The artwork enters into a dialogue with the geological presence of fossils that specifically occurred in the Marls of Alden Biesen, while the work also establishes a relationship with the visual artwork ‘Time Capsule’ (at the shell beach of Borgloon), a little further along the old railway bed.

Due to the many shells, the soil around Borgloon is very calcareous in many places. A calcareous soil is extremely rare in our region, just like the animal and plant species that live on it.

The artwork is located along the boardwalk and depicts the history of our landscape that has formed at this location over a period of thousands of years.
